Westside Ballet was founded in 1967 by two distinguished dancers: Yvonne Mounsey, a former NYCB principal ballerina, and Rosemary Valaire, a Royal Ballet First Soloist. The school operates on a non-audition academy philosophy, welcoming students of all levels from ages 3–18 while also offering adult ballet and Gyrotonic training. It maintains a dedicated boys-only program and has been featured in Dance Magazine and Pointe Magazine.
