About
Boston Ballet, founded in 1963 by E. Virginia Williams and Sydney Leonard, was the first professional repertory ballet company in New England. Under Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen (since 2001), the company has grown to 69 professional dancers from 11 nationalities, performing a diverse repertoire that spans classical full-lengths, Balanchine-rooted neo-classical works, and bold contemporary commissions. It is widely regarded as one of the top ballet companies in the United States.
